Built in 1978, Station 51 is located at 6711 Kimball Drive. It is one of the districts three oldest buildings and served as the Districts headquarters until 1999 for over 18 years. Station 51 is a 24 hour staffed station and houses engines medic units and the Battalion Chief as well as other specialty apparatus. It has a living area of over 7000 square feet and nearly 5500 square feet of apparatus area. This station is the most centrally located station and responds the the more emergencies than either of the other two 24 hour staffed stations.
The station is equipped with a fire alarm system and automatic sprinkler system.
The hose drying tower doubles for a drill area and is adjacent to a 62,000 square foot lighted paved drill ground.
In addition to response crews, the building also houses our Prevention Division. Public Education, Pre-Incident Planning and Fire Code Inspections are scheduled through this office.
